"A piece of land surrounded by water." ― Description of Castaway
Castaway is one of the many popular games associated with the Mental Assistance Department. After completing In Ruina Eius de Nephilim, the player is able to explore this ocean-like game for many hidden details about the Mind Walkers and more.
Overview[]
Castaway is a game created by Krilessh. It takes place on a small island surrounded by a large body of water for the player to explore. Castaway gives lots of background information on how Krilessh became immortal and was the main introduction to the character, excluding subtle mentions of him back at the Mental Assistance Department. After the player enters the Atlantean code, they can gain access to the Mind Walker base containing lots of information about what happened at this laboratory. Eventually, the player will meet with Cecil_Montgomery and the others for a trip to Jalcrl Nwm to put an end to the Mind Walkers.
Walkthrough[]
After entering the game, a dialogue with Immortius will be triggered, as the player is supposedly coming from In Ruina Eius De Nephilim alongside him. The text reads:
"Here we are mortal, our destination lies on that island in the distance."
[The giant grabs you from atop his head and gently places you into the water]
"I cannot follow you yet, my current form will cause me to sink to the bottom of the ocean. In my absence, take this gem to assist you in my stead."
[This gem seems to glow in your hands and vibrates violently, it seems to want to lead you somewhere...]
Ocean[]
The player spawns on an island in the middle of the ocean, surrounded by rocky cliffs where Immortius in his Nephilim form can be seen in the distance. On the island there are 5 large rocks, with the entrance to an underground tunnel in its center. The player will have to find 5 underwater terminals to make the symbols of each respective rock appear. Once in the water, the player has the option to "float" or "sink" with the W/A and E buttons which will make either a buoy or a rock appear depending on the button clicked. The player will also have "The Eye" in their inventory, given by Immortius to guide them through the sea. The description reads, "A gift from the last Nephilim, allows you to seek what you are looking for." However, if the player has not previously completed IREDN and obtained the "Eye of Immortius" badge, Immortius will not be present, the input dialog will not be triggered and the player will not have the eye to guide them through in their inventory.
Going underwater, the player will see a large submerged structure, which turns out to be the Tower of the Liars, the study base where the Mindwalkers have been experimenting with many things about the environment and the living beings around. Near the tower are many pipelines, which seem to connect the tower to the sea floor. On some of the pipes are signs written in Atlantean, which give their names, "EPIPE45S” and "EPIPE19F".
Apart from the underwater scenery made up of algae and coral, the player will also find many cracks and rocks, in which are located the entrances to the various terminal spots. The eye is very useful as it reveals the location of these spots, however, its use is timed and it can only be activated every 30 seconds. The five spots are scattered all around the map, each one next to an "artifact" with computers giving their respective info. Most of the time, a glowing jellyfish is near the entrance of the artifact area. (These spots can be found in any order, but one has been used here for logic purposes.)
The first artifact is the "Nephilim". In a cave, the player will find a Nephilim Skeleton and the first terminal: the right screen contains a log in Atlantean, reading:
"FOREIGN ARTIFACT A1 - ACQUIRED 4000 YEARS AGO.
KNOWN AS NEPHILIM. PROVEN HIGHLY RESISTANT TO MIND WALKER CONTROL.
EXTERMINATION SUCCESSFUL."
The player will then be able to click on the bottom part of the left screen where the text translates to "DISENGAGE LOCK ONE", revealing the 'skull' symbol of the rock on the island. Next, the player can find the second artifact, which turns out to be Krilessh's boat.
The right screen of the second terminal reads:
"FOREIGN ARTIFACT A2 - THIS BUOYANT STRUCTURE COLLIDED WITH THE PROBE AND CAUSED MINOR DAMAGE.
THE SINGLE OCCUPANT ON BOARD THE STRUCTURE HAS PROVEN TO BE REMARKABLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO MIND WALKER.
IT IS SUGGESTED THAT WE LOOK FOR SIMILAR LIFEFORMS."
The player should then click on the bottom part of the left screen where the text translates to "DISENGAGE LOCK FOUR", revealing the 'boat' symbol of the rock on the island. Third artifact is a temple located in another cave. Reading the terminal log, we understand that this temple was dedicated to Corlonisk and one of his gifts, which however has disappeared from the altar. The log reads:
"FOREIGN ARTIFACT A3 - THIS STRUCTURE WAS DISCOVERED SHORTLY AFTER THE PROBE LANDED. CARBON DATING PLACES IT AS BEING IMPOSSIBLY OLD. IT APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN CONSTRUCTED FOR RELIGIOUS PURPOSES. AN ARTIFACT WAS TAKEN FROM THE ALTAR BUT IT APPEARS TO HAVE NO VALUE."
By clicking on the bottom part of the left screen reading "DISENGAGE LOCK TWO", the 'temple' symbol of the rock on the island will be revealed. Then the player can find the fourth artifact, which is an USSR submarine, as the USSR symbol is seen at the back of it. More information can be obtained from the terminal, which reads:
"FOREIGN ARTIFACT A4 - THIS DEVICE WAS CAPTURED AFTER IT DISCOVERED THE PRESENCE OF THE PROBE. UPON CAPTURE IS CONTAINED SEVERAL CREATURES SIMILAR TO THE ONE FOUND IN THE OTHER BUOYANT DEVICE ENCOUNTERED CENTURIES AGO. EXPERIMENTS WITH THESE CREATURES HAS PROVEN VERY PROMISING."
Clicking on the lower part of the left screen reading "DISENGAGE LOCK THREE" will reveal the 'Sickle and Hammer' symbol of the rock on the island. Finally, the last artifact is located deep under the sea surface whose entrance is indicated with a glowing jellyfish. After finding the terminal, the player can read the following log:
"FOREIGN ARTIFACT A5 - AFTER THE BUOYANT DEVICE COLLIDED WITH THE PROBE, ONE HUMAN SURVIVOR SURVIVED. AFTER 13 CYCLES HE DISCOVERED THE PROBE AND HE WAS USED FOR EXPERIMENTATION. THE RESULTS PROVED THAT HUMAN BEINGS WERE REMARKABLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO MIND WALKER. THE SUBJECT WHO PREFERS TO GO BY THE DESIGNATION KRILESSH IS USED AS FIRST CONTACT WITH ANY HUMANS WHO DISCOVER THE PROBE."
Clicking on the lower part of the left screen reading "DISENGAGE LOCK FIVE" will reveal the 'lobster' symbol of the rock on the island.
Tower[]
After activating all the computers, the player will be able to return to the island, where all the rock symbols are now visible and clickable. To open the trap door and access the tower, the player will have to click the buttons in a specific order. The player will have to go back into the water one last time, to look for the cave containing the order of their symbol: note that this order changes for each server and is different for all clients. Once in the cave, the player will find their order, but also a stone where the letter C is marked, also seen previously at the end of In Ruina Eius De Nephilim.
Back on the surface, they can then insert their order. The two buttons on the hatch, in Atlantean, read "Clean" on the right and "Enter" on the left. After they have entered the right code, the trap door will open and they will be able to enter, before being teleported to the main hall of the base. Inside are many containers containing the bodies of the former crew members from the submarine seen earlier. There are also four large computers, all with three screens. The small one displays: "PROBE OFFLINE". The left screen always displays the text: "LIFEFORMS COMPATIBLE". The log on the right screen changes. The first one reads:
"PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
DISCOVER LIFE
CAPABLE OF MIND BREEDING CONVERSION."
The text on the second computer says, "MOTHERSHIP HAS LANDED IN MADNESS. PROBE GOING OFFLINE.” The third computer reads, "RELEASING KRILESSH BEFORE ENTERING SLEEP MODE." The fourth computer reads:
"MOTHERSHIP HAS DISCOVERED FIRST LIFEFORM
KNOWN AS IPIPRIX.
REQUESTED DATA ON LIFEFORM VULNERABILITIES
RE ENTERING SLEEP STATE"
Near the experiment containers can be found a note with the letter "C" again. If the player touches it, they will be teleported to the last area, to the back of a boat that leaves in the direction of Jalcrl Nwm. In the boat are Immortius, true_faces and another unknown character who will be revealed to be Cecil_Montgomery later, all of them having a desire for revenge against the Mindwalkers. The player can find a last note on the cabin door, reading: "I'VE TRACKED THEM TO THEIR LAIR. WE GO TO AN ARCTIC END. -C" Then, if the player touches the door, they will earn the “Cast Off” badge and the screen will turn white and the following sentences will appear:
[The boat whirs to life as you reach the door, and you see some familiar faces alongside a new one as captain. The mysterious individual reveals themselves to be ‘C’, the person leaving those notes around.]
[You are all on this journey for a reason, to stop the Mind Walker’s assault on humanity. Immortius and True have more personal reasons to take on such a powerful force.]
(Immortius)“After eons of imprisonment, I will finally return the favor ten thousand-fold to those lying heathens.”
(True) “Even though they stole my happiest memories of her, they cursed me to continue with my grief. My memories of her may be gone, but I know she would NEVER let these creatures continue their conquest unopposed.”
[You and these three others sail towards the final stronghold of the robotic arachnid menace, a group of crusaders to fight the final battle at the end of the world.]
After a few seconds, the player will be then teleported to Jalcrl Nwm.
History[]
Castaway was created on 5/5/2019, the day after Krilessh joined Roblox, and it was last updated on 7/16/2021. Castaway had a revamp somewhere during July 2020. On 07/16/2021, Krilessh gave a tour to Castaway, which led the server size to be put on twenty instead of eight.
Trivia[]
- Castaway has one badge, this being named “Cast Off”. It can be obtained through completing the game and traveling to Jalcrl Nwm.
- Though the font used in the logs is the same as Atlantean, it has to be considered as the official Mindwalker language and not as Atlantean in the series.
- There’s an invisible platform somewhere on the island the player can climb on. It has probably been here since the creation of the game and doesn’t have any purpose.
