"where the past and the present come together" ― concinnity()
concinnity() is a myth group created by therulerofnothing. This group holds many classic and old myths within it, while also adding some newer myths, such as Littlenathanial, MrRealism and somnl. The main recurring theme of this specific group seems to be about exploration through the subconscious. The description of it is "Where the past and present come together". It also hosts new myths as this is a reconnection between the old and the new, joining together into one.
Biography[]
The lore of concinnity() centers around the 'harmonious joining of the universe', more specifically, an infinite plethora of dimensions that your soul can only access through dreaming, each dimension more abstract and surreal than the previous.
It is possible that beings from earth can also create them with their subconscious unknowingly, it may also be possible that the dimensions have meaning and symbolism to them (for example, Littlenathanial's games), though it still isn't confirmed as of now.
According to the webcomic, the dimensions are stacked like "sheets of paper" (with the physical world in between), your soul can access the dreamscape through an abstract illuminated wormhole whether to above or below, essentially bouncing up & down through these layers as if it were an onion. There are also entities inhabiting them, either good, evil or simply neutral. They can also enter other dimensions through invisible portals that are marked with a X, written in ink (can also be detected through technology). These 'X'-marked portals spawn when enough negativity is present in a certain area.
The entities themselves, in symbolic terms, might represent an aspect of your own self, they may exist to call attention to certain qualities you are lacking. They can depict or exaggerate certain qualities as a way of focusing your attention on them (for example, the masked meat sphere entity in Attainment Failure might represent Nathanial's anxiety). They could also represent an occurring event itself too (for example, The Sphere Man, a humanoid entity in the group games, who tries to save people from climbing up a long ladder that countless people fell to their deaths from by paralyzing them).
Some entities in the dreamscape can also represent your unfinished communication with them and they may continue to appear in subsequent dimensions until the conflict is resolved (for example, the statue in Littlenathanial's games, which is a symbolic representation of Death itself), Again it is not confirmed yet, take this with a grain of salt.
Ghosts also wander around the dimensions, often times finding themselves in the physical world in realms that are more close to it which possibly explains paranormal activity (for example, The Maiden in MrAmbrus' game).
However, there's a very dangerous entity wandering around the layers and realms referred to as Ugrerkobbog, a being that many universes fear. It is depicted as a tall shadow-looking figure wearing a white mask and hiding a giant, gaping mouth (similar to No-face from Spirited Away), this entity is said to take its victims through a portal where they are squished into dark-colored, stony cubes.
Another recurring entity in concinnity() is The All-Seeing Sun, a star giant with a X marked on it, which only appears in both the 2020 group game, the group icon, Open2358's game and in the webcomic. Its purpose is unknown but it replaces other suns in the dimensions, acting sort of like a security camera, always constantly watching & keeping track of the dreamers and the dreamscape itself. It is speculated that the sun is being controlled by some sort of powerful entity or a god (most likely EverythingSeen judging by their name).
As of 2024, it is revealed in both the webcomic and official website that everyone in the group is trapped in a different dimension by therulerofnothing, who uses their life force as energy for himself and his empire of nothingness. The only way we can save them is by progressing through the webcomic.
History[]
The concinnity() group was created on the 29th of August, 2020, holding 15 members and five different ranks. In order, there was therulerofnothing in the "King" rank, EverythingSeen in the "Mouth" rank, Littlenathanial, MrRealism, TwinVisitor and FeelingofXenization in the "Unmoving" rank, OneDayThingsChange,TheForgottenScholar, developingRPG, Onetimeintheforest, Leptosome, cacodemonomanian, MrAegeus, MrAmbrus in the "Moving" rank and lastly TheOldShack, in the "Prison" rank. Later on the 30th of August, only a day later, five new members joined the group, those being Neverlookagain, TwinklerMan, NirvanayiYerazoghy, Betobetosan and PayotHayot. Neverlookagain and Twinklerman were kept in the Prison rank with the other three being ranked in Moving. The concinnity() group game was also created on this day, with the story for OneDayThingsChange being in the description.
From the 30th of August to the 2nd of October, 19 of the members had their stories hinted at or revealed in the description of concinnity()'s game, with each of them briefly gaining the "Mouth" rank when it happened. During this time, on the 13th of September, the concinnity() icon was changed from numerous symbols involved in the myth to an image featuring multiple red eyes in a 3x4 grid. A day later, two new members were added, those being somnl and zukoma, both being in the "Prison" rank at first. Later on, zukoma was moved to the "Moving" rank. The icon was also changed to a red eye, which was also included in the former logo.
On the 15th of September, the next day, two more members joined: garkeil and Dorment, both ranked to the Moving rank. Soon after this, Pteh also joined the group and was ranked to Moving. Later on, both of these Dorment and Pteh were moved to the "Unmoving" rank, and garkeil was moved to a new rank entitled "Warden". On the 18th of September, the icon changed yet again back to the picture of multiple red eyes, this time with it being a much darker shade overall, as if tinted slightly black.
On the 3rd of October, concinnity()'s group game was finally released to the public, following therulerofnothing's story being hinted at within the description of it. On the 17th of October, the group icon changed once again to the current group icon, a black and white image featuring a small white circle with a black X within it.
After this, the group would take a large hiatus, with the first sign of activity for some time being the description of the group being changed to the lyrics:
"Devil and the deep blue sea behind me
Vanish in the air you'll never find me".
This being a lyric from the song "Wrapped Around Your Finger" by The Police.
On the 16th of August, a new member called Acornate was added and was ranked in Prison. And 4 days later, another new user joined, this time being korjicough who was ranked to Moving. Acornate was also ranked to Moving on this day. Later on the 12th of October, somnl would join the group Paradox of Myths (at the time called Palace of Myths), and garkeil's game would also be publicized after a long time of it being privated. Three days later, zukoma would also joined Paradox of Myths.
On the 26th of February, 2022, two new users joined, those being Ct1i and Girvlouldns who were both under the Prison rank but were later changed to the "Moving" rank. Later on March 2nd, concinnity released the first chapter of their new interactive webcomic. The next four chapters would be released on the 7th of March, 28th of March, 13th of April and 29th of April respectively. Afterwards, on the 15th of May, 3 new users would join, those being Bumegar, Erjiina, and open2358, with Erjiina and open2358 having the "Moving" rank and Bumegar having the "Prison" rank.
On the 5th of August, the group's description was changed or rather shortened. The new description being "where the past and the present come together". Seven days later on the 12th of August, a new member joined, that being "burnedaway", having the "Prison" rank. Two days later Erjiina would mysteriously leave the group, but would rejoin only two hours afterwards. 7 days after that, on the 19th of August, a new user named "Dorimuskuru" would join the group under the "Moving" rank.
Later, on 23rd of August, another new user would join, that being PointedCanines, who currently has the "Prison" rank. On the 25th of August, WesleySecret would join the group, being the first user to attain the "Unmoving" rank in over a year. On the 29th of August, it was announced via the concinnity() twitter account, that therulerofnothing account had been lost by the owner, and that concinnity() would be put on hold indefinitely.
On the 3rd of September, the tweet announcing Ruler's account loss was deleted, hinting of an possible return. Afterwards, on the 4th of September, three new users joined, those being MariaSecret, who is currently under the "Moving" rank, NotionOfProsperity, who is currently under the "Prison", and gcrkr, who was under the "Moving" rank. PointedCanines was also ranked to "Prison" on the same day.
After a brief absence, on the 6th of October, two new members joined, the two are Player_1, who was placed in the "Prison" rank & Vestronal who was placed in the Moving Rank. On the 17th of October, The new group game was finally released.
On the 25th of March, 2023, Dorimusukuru left the group. It is unknown why they left the group. Later on the 28th of March, Acornate also left the group, with the reason for Acornate's departure also being unknown. Interestingly, ten days later, Dorimusukuru returned to concinnity() alongside a new myth, SleepInTheSnow, who was previously apart of the groups Daemonical. and /revelation.
A week later, two mostly inactive members, somnl and zukoma came online and updated their avatars slightly. Six days after this, four new members were added to the group, those being: TheTree_OfTime, 015_3, hdjandn, and Kitamea. A day later, the concinnity() rank was removed from Paradox of Myths and the concinnity() members who were in the group left.
After almost a month of inactivity, on the 21st of May, Ct1i left the group. It is unknown why he left the group. Shortly after, hdjandn and 015_3 also left the group, with hdjandn rejoining shortly after.
On the 25th of July, gcrkr left the group. And at some point afterwards, TheTree_OfTime and Dorimusukuru also left the group. On the 3rd of August, PIayer_1 and burnedaway were removed from the group, likely due to much criticism surrounding them.
After some time, in November 2023, the concinnity() group game began to get some updates, which was the first sign of activity from the group for some time. A month later, on the 30th of December, 2023, TheTree_OfTime and Dorimusukuru was added back to the group, alongside a new addition, that being "Thethingbetweenme".
Some time later, on the 15th of January, 2024, a new addition to the group, "Aenoio" joined the group, under the "Moving" rank. A month later exactly, on the 15th of February, two new additions joined the group, those being qaasrol and oldnatir, both of which having the "Moving" rank. On April 24, 2024, all three would leave concinnity() for unknown reasons.
Later this year, 3 new members would join. First being Tergilod, second being 015_3, last being Feverdreary.
On the 15th of December, three new members were added to the group, those being: knightofruin, Varqust, and Alleidas. Oldnatir also joined the group again on this exact day.
Moving into 2025, on the 25th of February, Girvlouldns and oldnatir left the group due to unknown reasons.
