Holoville is a colorful town that holovilleMentor, shrewdLibrarian, dottyBanker, and monochromaticMan live in. It’s generally a very friendly place with tons of things to find and explore with small details everywhere. The game has been hunted by the popular YouTuber, jokerkid5898, many times.
Overview[]
Holoville is a game created and owned by the holoville group. It is a small cartoon town that the members of holoville live in. Holoville has many interactable objects that give the player miscellaneous details. The game is known for jokerkid5898 having a YouTube series about it and a few events happening in-game, such as a book fair. Teleports are also hidden throughout holoville that bring the player to what seems to be memories of Gary’s where he is talking to Larry about moving into an apartment. Their conversation seems to be about things that wouldn’t exist in holoville, eventually leading to Gary waking up from a long dream in an apartment that takes place in real life. This would bring the end of holoville, but a sequel of holoville, “Downtown, Brooklyn”, would be created.
Walkthrough[]
There are three plazas that the player can spawn at; The northwest spawn, the north spawn, and the south spawn. At the northwest spawn, holovilleMentor’s schoolhouse is at the right of the spawn and shrewdLibrarian’s library is at the left of the spawn. There are two paths that go east and south from the northwest spawn that both meet at the south spawn. At the north spawn is monochromaticMan’s house. South of monochromaticMan’s house is the south spawn, which has a fountain with dottyBanker’s bank next to it. To the right of the fountain is a large park, filled with trees, flowers, and benches.
Firstly, the player should head to the park where they can find a tree with an apple. The player should click the apple a numerous amount of times until it falls off of the tree. Once the player has collected the apple, they should visit monochromaticMan’s house. Inside, there is a picture that they can interact with. The dialogue, “It seems to be a picture of this house.” will appear. The player should then walk to the desk and place the apple on it like shown in the picture of the house. Next, they should go to Joey’s Bank. Here, they can interact with multiple posters and other items which reveal more information about Joey. More importantly, the player can now click the vault to open it and enter. Inside are mostly empty rooms and hallways. They should travel straight and take the left hallway where they can find two rooms. The first room has a flipped over couch with a cassette underneath it. Once collected, the player could walk back to the beginning of the vault and go down the right hallway or enter the second room. The second room has some furniture, with one of them being notable. The fallen shelf has a picture of a ladder by a door and a rectangular shape highlighted red. Again, the player will be greeted with two rooms. The first room contains random furniture, but the shelf has a QR code on it that the player can scan. Once scanned, it will give the player “shrewdGary” and “garylibrary27”. They should then enter the second room and look around the left side of the room first. Behind a shelf, there is a paper that can be read. Once interacted with, dialogue will be shown which says “The edge of the paper is frayed as if it was ripped out of something. It says ‘’Gary Miller, 27’’. That’s all you can make out.” Next, the player can find a cassette player on a shelf on the other side of the room. With this, the cassette from earlier can be played. It is unknown what the sound’s meaning is nor its purpose.
After the player has explored the whole vault, they should proceed to Larry’s School. It consists of a classroom with notebooks and posters to interact with. One notable painting is a painting of the four residents of holoville and jokerkid5898, along with mrflimflam’s alternate account on the side. Interacting with it will cause the player to say “It’s a poster of all 4 residents, along with someone else. ‘made by joey!!!’ is in the corner. There’s also another person taped to the edge.” To the left of that painting and on the other side of the bookshelf is a poster which can be interacted with to produce “It’s a poster showing you how to use a keyboard. A good way to type is to think of it as the alphabet…? Weird.” The poster depicts a keyboard with the top left key being “A”, the fourth key on the second row being “B”, the top right key being “C”, and the spacebar being “D”.
Once the player has thoroughly looked about Larry’s School, they should head over to Gary’s Library. Inside the library are many books that are written by the four members of holoville. They often have funny titles and are all unique. Next to the door that the player entered from is a book titled, “Full History of Holoville”. It has a page missing from it which is the page that was found earlier in the vault. There is also a computer in the library. If the player presses the keys on the keyboard that matched the ones on the poster from the school, they will be able to gain access to the login screen. The username is “shrewdGary” and the password is “garylibrary27” which are found from the QR code from earlier. Once logged in, the player can see three different documents to access. The first document is named “management.txt”. Opening it will show the player the notes, “Rent and management, this month. 10.25 per hour Yesterday - 0 (Sick) Today - 41 Rent due - 27 days Note: Stay more hours at the start of this month, overtime.” The second document is called “checkout.txt” and it contains:

The final document on the computer is titled, “truth.txt”, and the notes read “Why have I always been the odd one out? I assume it’s just me trying to tell myself subconsciously what this really is. The whole computer is just that as well. All good things must come to an end, it was just a matter of time.” The player can then shut down the computer and explore the rest of the room. Once they have finished that, by using the picture found in the vault, the player is able to click on the first brown book from the left on the shelf directly above the door by the ladder. The player could then edge to the right and click a white book which is slightly tilted. The player will be teleported to “5”.

At 5, the player is unable to move stuck on a white screen as a dialogue plays. It plays:
“My names Larry Burhan, nice to meet you man.”
“I’m gonna start and ask you some basic questions.”
“Got it, nice to meet you Larry.”
“What’s your name?”
“Gary Miller.”
“Okay.”
“Why are you interested moving into this apartment complex?”
“I used to live in a trailer and I got a job at a library nearby.”
“I’d prefer to live in an apartment than a trailer haha.”
“Alright.”
“How much money do you make? As a librarian.”
“About 10 dollars an hour? I started working there since last week.”
“Sounds pretty good.”
“Do you like your job?”
“Well, I’ve always liked reading and writing, but being a librarian doesn't really involve writing anything.”
“I do like to read whenever I’m free and get knowledge on the books we have.”
“I saved up for a home computer recently so I can be more organized.”
“It’s a little old though, I wanted a Windows laptop.”
“Oh- Sorry, I got carried away.”
"No no, it’s fine.”
”I’d like to hear about that kind of stuff. It shows what kind of person you are.”
“You seem like a good pick. This lady wanted this apartment, but she backed out recently.”
”Who lives next to this apartment?”
”A guy named Guy. That sentence sounds funny but it’s his name.”
”Ah, he’s been to the library I work at. Is he nice?”
“Yeah, he’s a very reliable person. Never misses his rent.”
“Can’t wait to meet him- If I end up renting this place that is.”
“We should stay in touch, Larry.”
The screen fades to an entirely blank, white screen and the player is teleported to “4”. They spawn onto a structure with a similar background as “5”. The player is able to walk on an invisible path leading to a bus stop-like area with a lamp post. The player is then teleported to “3” where a dialogue begins to play. The dialogue begins to play out:
“I’ve been waiting at this stop for a while, huh.”
“Joey’s visiting, I don’t think he’s ever seen my new apartment.”
“I want to be one of those cool uncles for him.”
“Now that I live here, I sort of have a chance to restart, hm?”
“I should really start speaking to more people if that's the case.”
“It’s a lot of pressure.”
Once the dialogue ends the player is teleported to “2.” This game shares a similar formatting as “4”, they walk on an invisible path to an area with three lamp posts and an apartment-like structure. The player is teleported to “1”.
The screen starts off black with a title reading, “October 1st, 2009 - Brooklyn, New York - 3:48 AM”. The player spawns, unable to move in a bedroom, the bedroom has a poster, a couple of books on the floor, along with a laptop found on a desk. A dialogue begins to play:
“What was that?”
“Oh.”
“I haven't had such a lengthy dream in a while.”
“Was that meant to be… Joey?”
“Oh- and that guy who lives an apartment over.”
“That was surprisingly nice.”
“Maybe getting out there won’t be so bad.”
“I’m sure I’ve just been overthinking things.”
“You know what?”
“I’m done being a coward.”
“This is it.”
“The End”
The player is then teleported to Downtown, Brooklyn.
There are many signs, pictures, and more around the game that the player can interact with for some dialogue, but they do not hold any importance.
History[]
Holoville was created on 2/3/2020 and was last updated on 6/18/2021. On July 25th, 2020, jokerkid5898 made a YouTube video about holoville where the four members showed him around the town, causing a lot more popularity to come towards the myth. On 8/22/2020, jokerkid5898 would make his third video on holoville with mrflimflam joining him on an alternate account. This time, they would attend a public book fair. On October 6th, 2020, a Halloween event was hosted for jokerkid5898 where he would be shown around the decorated town. Afterwards, he would discover many new things that hinted towards the conclusion of holoville. Around December 20th, 2020, Holoville received a peculiar update where lots of the game was glowing and the sky changed. This would eventually be reverted after the story continued. This would quickly lead to the ending of holoville, but soon to be continued with a sequel.
