"It spread to a nearby home." ― Description of La Mort

La Mort seems to be about plague and spirits that are still living. It also seems to be focused on death. It contains a few puzzles and hidden details about the event that is happening at the household.

Overview[]

La Mort seems to be loosely based on some things like plague and death. There is not really a clear story the player can piece together, since it's rather vague but it seems to be about spirits of the black death and victims of it. A dead person is presented at the end of the game with there spirit possibly existing elsewhere in the game. La Mort also seems to be about omens, whether they be good, happy, or even sad, but there is no bad omen. It could be true that the bad omen is Pesteilence.

Walkthrough[]

Once the player spawns, they will first be in a long hall that seems to have almost nothing. If the player begins to walk down the hallway, they will soon come across a hole in the right wall that reveals a basement like room. Further down the hall are two wooden boards on the wall with someone seemingly knocking behind it. At the end of the hall, the player can turn left where they will find more of the hallway. Down the hall are a few tombstones with one of them having the date "1332-1348" on it. Nearby is a black figure in the darkness, and trying to go by it will result in the player falling into a sewer.

In the sewer, the player may find a few more shadow figures and a rose in the middle of the path. Touching this rose will cause decapitated heads and a radio to fall from the ceiling. On the player's left should be a blanket and drawing. Ahead of them should be a ladder, they can walk to it and climb it into some sort of room. Inside this room is another hole with the word "Disease" written next to it. Falling down this hole will bring the player to the inside of a house. On a table in front of them is a lighter that they can collect and use as a light source. Firstly, there is a living room with red eyes in one of the corners of the room, disappearing when getting close. Next to the couch in the room are intestines and some creepy audio, along with another figure sitting on one of the couches.

Next, there is a staircase that leads to multiple rooms. Before these steps however, there is blocked off section that is "Under renovation". The first room is a child's room, with many toys and drawings depicting himself and Pesteilence. Most notably, is a drawing on the wall showing a dark figure in a dark room. The phrase "Glass eyes" are written on the ceiling. The next room is a bit difficult to open, but inside is a room flooded with a dark material and tons of white eyes looking at the player. If the player walks across the room, they will find massacred person with one of their arms replaced with a rose. On the table next to them is a "Looking glass", which will be sued later on. The player can look to their right where they will find a gramophone and the note "Play me". A corrupted audio will seem to play. The last two rooms upstairs are not accessible.

Back to the child's room, the player can now use the "Looking glass" to a few things around the room, including a ladder on the headframe of the bed. This will lead the player to an attic with a dresser that they can click. Once collected, the player can go back down into the room where they can use it to climb into a hole in the ceiling. This vent like area has a piece of paper with "save up here" written on it, but it is unknown what it's meaning is. Continuing forward will spawn what seems to be a creature similar to Pesteilence, and will begin to chase the player. He will eventually catch them, and teleport them to what seems to be a library. Written on the floor is "Dreams". In this library is a statue of some person and a sort of maze. They will need to find a key for a door while running from what seems to be robotic versions of Pesteilence. At the back of the room is a few toys, with a specific toy hanging from a rope. Once collected, the player can bring it upstairs and use it on a door that can be accessed by climbing a ladder next to a bookshelf.

The player will then be in a hallway with doorways filled with darkness and white eyes, eventually leading to an extremely bright room with much more advanced shadow-like creatures. At the end of the room is a large tree with a swing hanging from one of it's branches, and a book with symbols in it. Sitting on it will cause Pesteilence to then go after the player and put them into a dark room with a gramophone and phrases to ease the player, these being "Now rest" and "Fear not".
