Mosaic Is a game by X5989.

Overview[]

Mosaic is a small game with puzzles and strange symbols. The game is also connected to the popular myth group Subtraction.

Walkthrough[]

Mosaic[]

The game begins in a narrow, brick hallway. The camera tilts to and fro, and music is played from an organ. A double doorway opens up into a bigger room where it continues the desaturated brick theme. A large skylight is in the ceiling, layered with small poles that make a pattern. On the left and right side of the room, there are two paintings. Both of them have strange symbols on them, where the left seems to resemble a cow skull, and the right painting seems to resemble an egg pod. At the end of the room there is a lectern which can be clicked to change each of its nine squares’ colors. In the bottom right of the room, there is a hole which the player can descend.

Inside of the hole is a completely pitch black tunnel with a grey wall at the end. Upon getting close to the end, the detail on the wall becomes more apparent, and there is a tablet complete with a color code. After inputting the code into the lectern, an event will occur where the colors oversaturate, and the music starts to become distorted. The wall behind the spawn area also begins to open up as things return to normal. The original music coming from the organ is gone, and is instead replaced by eerie, ambient noises.

Entering through the new door, it teleports to a new place with four different paintings holding each a different symbol. The same skylight from before can be seen above, and there is a small bar of light at the top part of a wall. There is a paint bucket by one of the paintings, and there is also a rusty chain lying beside a wall. Each of the paintings can be interacted with, and one of them holds the symbol seen back at spawn. Clicking all of the paintings in any order will cause the screen to go white, with the letters, “Dlc Orb yj Rri Kywysg” popping up on the screen. The screen stays like that, and you are then teleported to Game Hub.

Theories[]

  • Mosaic might portray the inside of a cult
    • Symbols on the wall depict gruesome and satanic things.
      • They are colored red to depict blood, and one of them resembles a cow skull
    • Lecterns are generally used for religious practices.
    • No exit can be found, making it similar to an underground bunker or a prison cell.
  • The player most likely only gets to the place via kidnap.
    • No doors are seen, and the player abruptly spawns in an isolated area
    • Symbols are the only way to progress, meaning that the puppet masters used this idea of progression to also progress their victim's conversion into their religious beliefs.
