"The demolished, abandoned city holds many secrets of the past, present, and future. After wandering for days, you find yourself in the presence of a cryptic temple. Mystery and danger lurk within, along with one of the most powerful beings AKOSEL has ever known..." ― Description of The City
The City is a city of ruins with a large temple which reveals how the story behind it was about the core which came to the city and left it in a destroyed state therefore making it empty and deserted.
Overview[]
The City is a game created by AxisKetels. It uses many teleporters, hidden text, fake walls, and puzzles throughout the game. The City shows how the core which was sent by someone, fell into the city and destroyed most of it. Therefore leaving the city abandoned and wrecked. One thing that is still intact, is the temple which is the sanctuary of the God of Earth and Wind. Inside the temple, there are depictions of RidgewayEscape and LeveledCities with red arrows above them. In the tower, there is writing about a deity on the walls, along with OllieOddballOaks found impaled and dead.
Walkthrough[]
Once the player spawns, they should follow the path until they find a meteor. If they hover their mouse over it, a message will say “Who could’ve done this?” They can continue on the path until they can take a left that leads to a house. Inside the house, there is a map. The map is used for the maze in the next game. Back to the original path, it will lead the player to a temple. The text “This place is dangerous, should we still enter?” will appear. Entering the temple will teleport the player to “Burrows.”
The player will then be in the tunnels with a candle to accompany them. The player should first take a left, then right, and then another left. Any combination different than this will result in a dead end. They should keep going straight, take another left, and stay on the path. If they take a right here, rather than left, they will find a rock surrounded by lava that kicks them from the game. If the player followed the correct path, they should then arrive at a door that they can press the “E” key on to open. This will reveal a staircase that will teleport the player to “Temple.”
Once the player spawns, they should go down the left hallway and can enter the first room or second room. Down the corridor in the first room, there is a hallway on the left. This will eventually lead to a large hallway with multiple rooms. One of the rooms has a doorway that leads the player to another hallway with more rooms. Once they follow the hallway with pillars, they take a left and find a room with a yellow teleport that takes them to “Tower.” In the second room, there is a note in the corner of the room that reads “I wander the temple making sure he isn’t here. I can’t seem to escape him. Sometimes I find survivors, but they always seem to flee in my presence. I can’t blame them.”
Once the player ascends the steps of the tower, they can enter a hallway with a stone man staring at a fireplace. To the left of the man is a room with writing and a lever, which can be clicked. The writing on one wall says “A long awaited corpse is no longer at rest. Stolen from the crypt, the Deity, and the Earth..” and on another wall, it reads “A deity filled with sorrow outlives the rest. Awaited by peace, longing, and guilt.” Clicking the lever then opens a gate that leads to another hallway. At the end is an impaled person hanging on a wall. This seems to be OllieOddballOaks.
In The City, if the player turns around when they spawn, they can see some ruins behind them in the distance. There is a portal in these ruins that will teleport the player to “Requiem.”
Back at Burrows, the player can find a secret path if they use the map. After the pathway that leads to lava, if the player sticks to the right wall, they can pass through a fake wall revealing a new tunnel. Going to the end of this tunnel will cause the player to fall into a red area with many beings watching them. They will then be teleported to “The Tunnels.”
Here, the player can find a room with six doors on the walls and a door at the end. The door at the end of the room leads to another room with a shaking chest. Clicking the chest will give the player a hammer. It is unknown what the hammer is used for.
The first door on the left of the room will teleport the player to “AKOSEL.” The second door on the left will teleport the player to “Trees.” The third door on the left has a red “X” on it, and is unknown how to open. The first door on the right will teleport the player to “The City.” The second door on the right will teleport the player to “The Lab.” The last door will teleport the player to “Disquietude.”
If the player goes past the door in Burrows, they can either take a left or a right. Taking the left leads to water where the player will drown. Taking the right leads to a plank over a pit. If they jump into the pit, they will be teleported back up.
In Temple, there is another hallway near the doorway to the next area. This hallway leads to a room with a pressure plate. The player should step on it. Next, the player should go to the next area of the temple and once they get there, they should exit the hallway and take a left. There, they can find a corridor with a pressure plate at the end. The player should then go back to the first room with the pressure plate where there will now be pillars moving into and out of the wall. The player will need to pass through these obstacles to enter another room. Inside, the player can find a cage with a note inside that says “The keeper of vessels, deep within the earth, deep within his work.” It is unfortunately known by few on how to get the badge and what to do after that.
History[]
The City was created on 6/11/2019, and was last updated on 7/7/2020.
Trivia[]
- MLGQuickSkopur helped with scripting the secret ending.
- Around only sixty people have obtained the “Religious Foe” badge.
Theories[]
- The City was destroyed by the landing of the core
- The player can find the core at the start of the path with the text “Who could’ve done this?”
- The red arrows above the art of RidewayEscape and LeveledCities have to do with them being controlled by The Growth.
- Red is often used with things related to The Growth.
- The arrows are above only LeveledCities on one side and are above them both on the other side. Possibly shows that LeveledCities served The Growth first and then RidgewayEscape did.
