"The center of The AKOSEL Project. This is where the real trials begin." ― Game description of The Lab
The Lab is a game made by AxisKetels. The Lab is the base of which the AKOSEL Project takes place. Here AxisKetels and others work to protect their reality from a deity known as “The Growth”. The Growth is found plaguing and polluting their reality, “Reflective Space”
Overview[]
The Lab is a game made by AxisKetels. Inside the Lab, there are many things being developed to prevent the spread of The Growth. The Growth is a large mass consuming entire planets, it is said to be at the Earth’s moon at this point. The Growth’s objective is to destroy mirrors. Mirrors are used as a form of transportation to travel far and close distances. AxisKetels’ reality, “Reflective Space” is said to be a universe alternative to Earths’. This reality is in danger of The Growth and works to prevent it from spreading. The Lab contains specimens relating to The Growth and research theorizing ways to stop The Growth. AKOSEL is the largest mirror in their reality and a project called “The AKOSEL Project” was created to defeat The Growth. In The Lab, the player must enter several portals in order to obtain mirror shards to prevent The Growth from destroying them. There are several types of puzzles, codes, and other ways of progression the player must pass in order to collect all the shards.
Walkthrough[]
The player spawns in a small lobby. The player can click on two door handles to open a door. The first door on the left is Room D. Inside Room D the player can find three objects, a small frog called “Harold”, a red cube, and a floating orb surrounded by a spinning ring. Clicking the frog makes it croak. The player can then enter the hallway once more and make a left. Here Room A, Room B-C, and the Storage Room can be found.
Inside Room A there is a desk with a name plate, it reads “Head of Investigation”. There are also pieces of artwork found inside the room. Making a left, the player can open a small door nearby the desk. Inside this closet there are test tubes filled with glowing liquids, papers with morse code written on them, and files containing several case files. Once translated the morse code reads, “I HATE FILING REPORTS.”
Heading back into the hallway, right across from Room A is Room B-C. The player can enter by clicking the door, if the player enters the room on the left there is some sort of a furnace. Across from the furnace is Room C. Inside Room C there are two subjects, one called “Subject R3-B” and the other called “Subject D5-A” Subject R3-B is varying shades of yellow and Subject D5-A has a black torso and head, red right left, gray left leg, red left arm, and a gray right arm. At the end of the hallway inside Rooms B-C, there is a door the player could open. The area seems like a storage room, filled with bright-colored liquids oozing down the shelves. In the middle of the room there is a trapdoor-like thing the player could click. The player is brought to Room G, a restricted area, the only room in the West wing. To the left there is a blocked off flight of stairs showing flashing colors on the wall. The player can jump into the water and climb up to reach two different doors. The door on the left is the exit to Room G. If the player enters a door on the right they will be teleported to “Inner Lab”
A message plays when the player spawns “The sound of The Growth echoes through the lab. ...Suddenly, it grows louder.” There is one room, here there are many different types of technologies. In the middle of the room there is a glass-like substance, it should teleport the player to “The Growth” On the side of the room there are several vents, the player can enter the third vent. There is a fork in the road, if the player takes the right path they are led to a white vent. The white vent leads to a room that was closed in the main room, many papers are misplaced here. There are a few papers explaining the characteristics of some entities called “LeveledCities, DakhmaAda, and RidgewayEscape” A door to the right leads back to the main room. The player could head back to the vents and take the left path, here there is a red vent. When approaching the vent, some sound plays. The player is teleported to “Trees”
Back at The Lab, the player can enter the Storage room. Inside the storage room there are many desks, a desk in the middle has a name tag, reading “Head of Observation”
The player can then explore the North wing. Here there is Room E, Room F, and the Armory. Room F seems to be locked. Inside the Armory Room there is a shooting range and some mannequins. The door on the right leads to an empty storage closet. The door on the left leads to some stairs, with another door on the left at the top. Here the office for the “Head of Sentry” is found. Inside Room E, there are five mirrors. The player can enter the first mirror on the left. The player will be teleported to “The Land of a Thousand Doors”
The loading screen reads “Mirror 3, Section 1, Asylum Halls” There are several yellow figures that will chase the player and take damage if they approach them. There are many doors, each door teleports the player to another part of the map. The player needs to find the door that’ll teleport them to a switch. The player should click the switch, it’ll turn red. The entrance to a door is now opened. The area seems like a bar, some figure tells the player to get out. There is another passage the player should enter. There is some sort of mirror piece touching it takes the player back to The Lab.
Back at The Lab, the player can enter the second portal from the left, it is yellow. The player is teleported to “Rooftops” The loading screen reads “Mirror 3, Section 2: An Unknown Village” The game looks like an underwater-like area. The player can follow a long path leading to a small village. The player can continue on the path. There is a large, white portal at the end. Approaching it teleports the player to “Battlefield” The loading screen reads “Mirror 3, Section???” Some text at the bottom of the screen reads “You feel as though you are being watched…” Figures spawn in and out in the distance watching the player. A red, bolded text appears “You are being watched.” The player could find some ladder-like structures in the middle of the map. The player could climb these, touching the mirror at the top brings them back to The Lab.
The player can enter the middle portal, it’s purple. The player is teleported to “Chivalry” The loading screen reads “Mirror 3, Section 3 Chivalry” The player must follow a path across the water by stepping on the wooden planks. The player will find a doorway, to open this they must say “Chivalrous Knight” The door will open and there will be a forest with several paths. The player should continue straight once they reach the fork in the road. The right path leads to some stone statues. At the end of the path, there is a Mirror shard, touching it brings the player back to The Lab.
Heading back to The Lab, the player can enter an orange portal. It can be found inside Room E and is the fourth portal from the left. The player is teleported to “Memory Field” The loading screen reads “Mirror 3, Section 4: A Hundred Miles East of The City” The player spawns in a desert-like area. There is a small temple structure. The player can approach the temple and remove a piece of wood covering a hidden passageway. The player can jump down this passageway. There is some sort of pedestal. The player should go back out into the desert and search for what looks like a small, sun-like button and click it. It takes place in around the bottom right part of the map. The player should receive a “Weighted Disc” The player should head back to the temple and place the disc on it. They will fall down a long trapdoor. The player can approach walls that will come down once approached. The player should take the first right, they will come across two doors. The player should enter the door on the right first. The player should follow the passageway then head back, entering the left door. Using the weighted disk the player should brush it against the pedestal. The player should exit the place with two doors and make a right, then shortly after a left. A once closed door is now open. The player should follow the path, brush the Weighted Disk on the pedestal, and head back to the right path. There should now be a mirror shard the player can touch, teleporting them back to “The Lab”.
The player should now enter the fifth portal inside Room E. This portal is red or pink-ish. The player will be teleported to “Shot in the Dark” The loading screen reads “Mirror 3, Section 5: A Gateway to The Growth” There is a timer at the top of the screen counting down from 3 minutes and 15 seconds. The player spawns in a brightly-colored maze with checkered floors. If the player is touched by a diseased being, most likely a guardian preventing the player from reaching the shard, they will be kicked. This being is trying to steal a mirror shard. The player must complete the large maze and make it to a doorway before the timer runs out, the doorway will remain open if the player reaches it before the time stops. Near the end of the maze, the player needs to climb a ladder then enter a doorway, there will be a small, triangle-shaped mirror shard. Touching the shard will bring the player to “The Lab”.
The player should enter Room E and touch the isolated, dark red portal at the back of the room. The player is teleported to “Pianissimo”. There is a sign in front of the player. It reads:
“Welcome to the theater. In order to gain entry, you must complete the following challenges.
Quiz
Athletic Course
Circle of Fire
Good luck!”
There is a sign reading “Press the button to start the entrance exam. Or press the other button to quit.” The player should click the start button. The first question is “What is the flower behind you? Pink Daisy or Pink Camellia” The player should brush against Pink Camellia, the next door will open. The player should then walk forward, they’ll be teleported to a new area. A sign reads:
“Congratulations on completing the first phase.
There are 18 questions in total, each increasing in difficulty.
The use of research and outside materials are allowed with each question.
Good luck.”
The player should brush against the continue sign. The player is asked the temperature of the sun, the answer is “5,778 K” The next question asks how tall Mount Everest is, the answer is “29,000+ feet”. The next question asks if the queen or knight is stronger in chess, the answer is Knight. The player is asked where are they, they should pick ?. The player is then asked for their status, infected or not infected. The player should choose “not infected”. The next question reads “Please help me…”, the player should choose a blank answer. The question after asks “What shape is the Earth”, round or flat? The player should pick “round”. The player is asked “What’s another word for color”, hue or shade. The player must choose hue. The question then asks “Is it time yet?”, no or no. The player should choose either option. The player is asked for Shakespeares’ most famous play, Romeo and Juliet or Hamlet. The answer is Romeo and Juliet. The next question is "What gas were British WW2 barrage balloons filled with?" Nitrogen or Hydrogen? The answer is hydrogen. The player is asked if they’re alright, they should choose yes. The player is asked what plant is behind them, it is a sprout. The player is asked “What is the boiling point of argon?”, the answer is -302.5 F, not the positive form. “Where is the final mirror piece?” the player is asked, they should choose any blank answer. The player is asked if they wish to continue, they should choose yes. They are asked if they are sure, the player should pick yes. The player is brought to an obby. The player should complete the obby, avoiding all magma. The player will reach some letters, they will have to jump on the letters to spell “Pianissimo”. The player must then complete another obby, avoiding cannons shooting balls of magma at them. Once the player reaches the top they will be brought to a new area. They will then earn the "Dreadful Encounter" badge, and find LeveledCities with the sixth piece that the player was looking for. This one urges them not to step closer for they will shoot the player’s brains out. Approaching him will teleport the player to “Curtains of Cessation”.
The player spawns in third person, where they must complete a maze, stepping on platforms to open doorways. The player should be avoiding floating eyeballs as well to prevent being kicked from the game. They must find an orb, whose dialogue reads "those who wish to leave must find what makes the eyes water". It is said to be found "past the second gate". In front of this orb is a platform, which opens the second gate mentioned before. The player can access it near the exit, to the right. By continuing, they will eventually find the 'Red Journal', which turns out to be the answer to the riddle. The player can then open the door to the exit with the journal and go through the portal where they are teleported in a corridor. Here a dialogue will start as the player walks toward:
"That book...I've seen it before.
Could it be..?
Step forward, child. I will take you home, and I will make sure that book stays in safe hands.
Take my hand. It is time to return into the Reflective Space."
Then the dialogue stops, and the player is faced with RidgewayEscape. They will then be teleported back to The Lab. The "Sixth of Six" badge is officially unobtainable, as is the sixth mirror piece, which has been stolen by LeveledCities.

Trivia[]

Theories[]
- The growth’s objective is to destroy every universe.
- It is mentioned that The Growth is an absorbing mass. It wants to absorb or consume everything, making everything be part of it. This also explains why it destroys mirrors. The players know that mirrors lead to alternate universes and are used as forms of transportation. There’s an infinite amount of alternate universes that can be reached using the mirrors, this is why The Growth wants to destroy them in order to prevent others from escaping it.
