"In the crowded city, there is no other type of pain then the trickling rain that coats the abandoned corpses." ― The Spring Apartments

The Spring Apartments focuses on a Landlord of an Apartment complex set in Japan who kills her residents in devotion to Mizuki. As you explore the game, you can be met with various cutscenes that discusses the lore in-depth, symbolism & minor appearances of puzzles.

Overview[]

The game takes place in an apartment complex in Japan. On the outside, the place seems very friendly and welcoming. But on the inside, residents of the complex begin to notice a foul smell roaming around the building. Various of these residents express wanting to fill out a complaint over it. As you investigate further, you come to find out that a lady, by the name of "Hinata", was killed and thrown off of the roof of the building by none other than Ms. Sadanika. The hunter is now tasked with escaping. Throughout escaping, you witness more of these murders conducted by Ms. Sadanika, learning that she does it for an individual named Mizuki who is affiliated with gangs.

Walkthrough[]

The game starts at the entrance of the apartment complex. There is a secluded area in the wall, formerly it was only one woman. Her dialogue noted how men were quite scarce in the apartment complex. As of the recent update, this has changed, giving the lady a husband. The apartment complex is also filled with various men now.

As the hunter walks further, there is a railing. Formerly, there was a diary entry that laid on top of it, but as of right now, it was removed and replaced with a woman (most likely Hinata). Hinata would essentially ask if the hunter heard something. After the hunter is unable to hear the 'thing', she explains she must head off now due to the rain. The player insists she finds shelter too, although she expresses fear and how she cannot due to the sound coming from inside the apartment complex.

Walking further, the hunter can find a shrine that reads off a bit of dialogue. Walking inside the complex, the hunter was originally greeted by Ms. Sadanika herself, but as of now, she no longer speaks. As the hunter enters forward, a lady asks if the hunter would like tea, expressing how it's 'farm fresh'. The hunter declines, fortunately.

Continuing forward, the hunter can find the employees-only area. The hallway has two rooms, and the hunter can eavesdrop on a convo. Originally, the two conversing would mention the deaths, but as of right now, they only speak of the constant noise complaints about the odor.

When heading up the stairs, the hunter can find a library. There is a girl there studying. Formerly, there was dialogue by the windows but as of now was removed.

Moving forward, the hunter can also find two ladies gossiping about the situation, expressing their disgust with the odor and wanting to also make a complaint. This is a common occurrence as it happens again once the hunter is downstairs. There is also another woman staring at a broken TV who formerly would make dialogue on it, but as of now, it is gone.

Navigating more around the complex leads to a blue door that is locked. The hunter is prompted to head up the stairs. Formerly, there was a demon-like figure by the other side of the rail but is now replaced with just a diary entry.

As the hunter walks up more, the hunter can find a red broken gate. As the hunter walks forward, the dead body of Hinata falls from the roof onto the floor. In former updates, it was a dead body instead surrounded by a spirit, most likely Ms. Sadanika judging by her iconic kimono.

If the hunter walks forward, they can find a red door. Going through it leads the hunter to another game. This game takes place in an area for private events.

The Performance

The hunter is let inside due to being a part of the Apartment complex. As the hunter approaches the stage inside, everything changes, Miss Ling, the performer, is dead. The stage is now replaced with a woman on her knees and floating above is Ms. Sadanika.

Walking onto the stage teleports the hunter to another game. While exploring, the hunter can find someone who can direct the hunter to the Niwa district.

Heading into the dressing room, the hunter can find two spirits surrounding a girl (unknown as of writing this). When the hunter goes up to her, it sends the hunter to a pitch-black area with a glowing noose at the end. The noose will then teleport the hunter outside of the room. As the hunter walks away from the door the hunter can find a girl from a gang called "2fates" beating up another member of another gang. She mentions his gang as "the gunjin gang"

The Alley

After looking around more, the hunter can find another red door. Going through it will teleport the hunter to another game. This is the Niwa district. The game takes place in an alleyway, and to get through, the hunter has to find the hunter's way through the vent. Once the hunter has made it through, inside a room that is within the vents, Adventuring further, the hunter will find Mizuki scolding two of her followers, expressing her need for more intel on the twins.

As the hunter progresses further, the hunter can witness the assassination of Empress Hime Akai, representing Ms Sadanika in another life. This Sadanika haunts present-day Sadanika. This Sadanika was assumed to be during the Edo era. Many dead bodies are scattered on the floor, including soldiers.

The hunter is then sent to another part of the alleyway, where the hunter can find a woman encouraging the hunter to enter a building. As the hunter enters, the hunter can note how empty it is. Within this building, the hunter will witness Sadanika assassinating Mizuki.

Once teleported again, the hunter is brought into a river. This river at the end, would formerly kick the hunter but as of now, it finally teleports the hunter to a continuation of the game.

The Corridor

The hunter is met by most likely a younger Sadanika and a younger Mizuki, expressing the bullying Sadanika went through.

Throughout these games, Sadanika continuously refers to a woman she holds high on a pedestal. This woman is most likely her future wife.

The hunter is once teleported again in what looks like Sadanika's home. In her home, there are various portraits of her & her wife.

There's also a hole in this room, which has a radio. The audio from it is most like Sadanika's voice.

Inside the home, up the stairs, is a portrait of the twins. Another photograph prompts the hunter to say Arabella's name, which will open a door.

Inside this room, there is a bed. There is also a closet, which inside has mannequins. One of these mannequins falls with a knife in the back.

Continuing forward, through another door, we are teleported into a bedroom. On the bed lies Ms. Sadanika’s wife.

Through another door, outside of the room, we are met with the same gang from earlier. They confirm that Mizuki is affiliated with the gang, most likely tied to the killings conducted by Sadanika as well.

The gang members kill Sadan’s wife, throwing her off of the balcony.

Exploring around, we can find a tall framed door (or portrait) that shows those involved with Sages of Malevolence. Going through it takes the hunter to another section of the game. Sadonika, in front of Iris_forgotten, is in distress over the death of her wife.

In a black teleport, the cutscene displays how her wife died in an act of jealousy.

Ultimately, we can speak to Sadanika's wife, who is only a spirit. She tells the hunter that she wants the hunter to tell Sadanika that she loves her dearly, expressing that she has let the hunter finally exit. After her dialogue, the hunter is kicked from the game as the hunter walks into the red door.

The kick note goes: "Words cannot describe my love for you all. I adore you guys so much, without you I am nothing. My dear the hunters and myths, continue walking these halls of pain that I have created for you."

This marks the end of Ms. Sadanika's game, for now.

History[]

Not much is documented of her past but from what I’ve concluded from others, her game was completely different with a different storyline in early 2022. After she unretired she would revamp the game in late 2023.

In 2024, the game would go through a lot of changes. Some of these changes can include at the start, there being a female NPC that would state how men were fairly scarce at the complex. This would change for unknown reasons, giving the NPC a husband in recent updates and various male NPCs around the maps. Some characters would be removed, some would get moved to different spots, and cutscenes would be reworked.

In late May of 2024, during this update, a continuation would be implemented in the game. Formerly, once the hunter reached the river, the hunter would be kicked. As of now, it will teleport the hunter to a continuation. The game is most likely completed, according to the new kick message once the hunter meets Sadan’s wife’s spirit.

Trivia[]

  • The game is most likely finished
  • There are a few hidden rooms within the last few games unrelated to the myth. One of these rooms includes a radio.
  • All voice acting is done by Ms. Sadanika.
  • Her game was inspired by Little Nightmares and Chillas Art Studio games. The game would also take inspiration from Japanese mythology.
